K9Alert Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 16, 2026
At K9Alert, we are deeply committed to protecting your privacy. We believe that community safety tools should be completely safe to use without requiring you to give up your personal information. This privacy policy explains how our application handles data.
1. No Personal Information Collected
K9Alert does not require, request, or collect any personal information.
- We do not collect names, phone numbers, or email addresses.
- We do not require you to create an account or log in to use the app.
- We do not track or store your device's advertising identifiers or hardware information.
2. How Location Data is Handled
K9Alert requires access to your device's GPS (location services) to function.
- Local Processing: Your live, moving location is processed entirely locally on your own physical device. It is used only to show your position on the map and to calculate how close you are to reported dog concerns.
- No Tracking: Your continuous, moving location is never saved, tracked, or sent to us, our database, or any third parties. The only exception is a single anonymous location point submitted only when you choose to tap "Report Dog" — see Section 3 for details.
3. Anonymous Crowdsourced Reports
When you use the "ONE CLICK REPORT DOG" feature, the app uploads only three pieces of data to our shared database:
- The precise latitude of the dog's location.
- The precise longitude of the dog's location.
- A timestamp (showing when the report was created).
This report contains absolutely zero identifying information connecting it to you or your device. It is entirely anonymous.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
- 1-Year Expiry: All reported dog markers automatically expire and are permanently deleted from our database after 365 days.
- Community Clean-Up: Users can vote to flag a marker as "Dog Gone" if a hazard is no longer present. Once a marker receives votes across 3 different days, it is instantly and permanently deleted.
5. Children's Privacy
Because we do not collect any personal data, we do not knowingly or unknowingly collect, store, or process personal data from children under the age of 13.
